The main goal in Rummy is to arrange all 13 cards in valid sequences and/or sets. A valid declaration must include at least two sequences, one of which must be a pure sequence (without a joker).
Number cards are worth their face value, face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10 points each, and Aces can be worth 1 or 11 points depending on the sequence. Jokers carry 0 points.
A pure sequence is 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit. An impure sequence can include a joker to substitute for a missing card in the sequence.
A set consists of 3 or 4 cards of the same rank but different suits. A set can include one joker as a substitute for a missing card.
Players take turns to draw a card (from the closed or open deck) and discard one card to the open deck. The game continues until a player makes a valid declaration.
